I have tried numerous times to quit, but will give it my extra-best shot once again.on this Thanksgiving long weekend.  I will try to use my means.  In the past, I wouldn't even challenge the urges and stepped back into smoking, but I will try to resist and change my mind set when the cravings come.  I have prepared myself fairly well for today, and will call or post when things get tough.  In a week, it will be the 4th year date of my mother's passing, so I am praying for some help from her up above.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone! :)

    Hi franny,

You have a solid plan in place for today. It shows how much thought you have given quitting smoking.

We will be here if you need us.

Have a great smoke free Thanksgiving.

Congratulations on deciding to Quit!  I am into my second week as of today :)
The mind is a powerful organ, you seem to have good reasons for quitting and keeping that promise to yourself is paramount.  Distraction is a big key and over coming the "Trigger's" that caused you to light up.  I have been using a water bottle that has a closable small top, and take multiple small sips when in a situation where I was triggered, like driving my vehicle...some place I was always smoking the heaviest, but I couldn't avoid that zone as I live on an acreage and work in town.
I will say as the day's go by it does get easier...you will feel crappy for a bit...not gonna sugar coat it...but it Does get better!
You can do this...we all can and we are all here to help...just remember if you do happen to fall back...it's not the end of the world...just remember how bad you felt and how guilty you felt having that one smoke (that's how I had felt after I fell from previous quit attempts anyway), don't quit quitting, each time you do increases the chances of succeeding!

    Hello Franny,
Yes please don't give up! Resisting urges and cravings is not easy but I know you can do it. Imagine how good you will feel once the urge has passed and you didn't give in!
    I'm rooting for you

    Hi Franny,

I know what you mean.  In the past, when I tried to quit, almost as soon as the cravings hit, I would give in.  But I realized that that was getting me nowhere.  I had to buckle down and get really serious about quitting.  So I grit my teeth and told myself that no matter what, I would not give in.  I also wanted to show my sisters that it was indeed possible to quit.  And guess what?  Now they know!  LOL

Hang tough, Franny.  You can do this.  Keep yourself as busy as possible to take your mind off it.  Drink lots of water, and go out and have some fun.  Kick your habit to the curb.

Just started my first day!  Hopefully you are now on your second?  I'm sorry about your mom and the anniversary coming up, but hang onto your resolve, we will all have set backs that convince us that it's not a good time to quit, but it never will be a "good" time, except for right now!
