    Hello mommafur5,

Congratulations on quitting 5 weeks ago! I'm sorry you are struggling with the racing heart, that must be scary. Do you think it could be anxiety or stress? Maybe see your doctor to make sure it is nothing serious. It was good thinking that you cut down on caffeine since that is a stimulant.

Don't worry about not coughing as some people don't cough when they have quit smoking. Even though you have not coughed, your lungs are still repairing themselves and getting healthy.

Please reward yourself for your hard work and reach out to your doctor:)

    Hi mommafur5,

Do you think it is possible that the increase in anxiety is due to not having a coping strategy with everyday stress now that you no longer smoke? I know when I was a smoker, I smoked to deal with stress etc and once I quit smoking, I felt out of sorts until I found another coping method for stress.

Also don't be too hard on yourself and give yourself a much needed break!

    Renee
