I am on day 10 and feeling great. As with many people I have quit and started more than I can count but this time it is different. I don't feel deprived, I feel confident. I have even dealt with a stressful situation and did not go buy cigarettes. My biggest concern right now is evening snacking but I am trying to get control of it and bought myself a jigsaw puzzle to work on to distract me. I love writing my daily affirmation "I am a non smoker"

    Hi qb16,

Wow, good for you!  10 days, that's awesome!  You know, it probably feels different this time because the time is right for you.  When I quit a year ago, I just felt like it was my time to quit, and that was it.

Like you, I found food a real trigger.  That's why I think it's great that you are going to work on a jigsaw puzzle.  What a fun and terrific distraction!    And you are really smart to do a daily affirmation.  I think stuff like that helps our brains to adjust to new circumstances and that will help you to succeed.

    Hi qb16,

Welcome to the site and congratulations on quitting. I hope day 11 is just as good as day 10 was? Aside from keeping your hands busy, some people find popping in ice chips or cubes to be helpful or brushing their teeth too....

It takes a bit of trial and error but I am sure you'll find the right fit and I do agree with treepeo, the puzzle idea is a good one.

Congratulations qb, let us know how you are doing!
    Lillian
