Well the cravings have been really intense and persistent in spite of the 14 mg patch and the Nicorette gum. I wish I could tell all of you how I avoided a slip but I didn’t. I feel like a failure, constantly quitting and slipping. I really want to be a non-smoker. I hope that tomorrow I find my way through whatever this addiction throws at me.

Oh quitfriend,  I hear you!  It's day 13 for me and I've had a challenging couple of days.  I avoided three slips so far.  I'm so pent up angry this morning and going a little insane.  I'm also a little tired of the minty taste of my spray and the gum.  I was thinking of putting two paches on this morning.  Have you tried this?  Maybe you need to increase your NRT?  I'm giving it another 24 hours, then I'll decide.  Just riding this out with you!

    Hi,

Ocean, some people do use a combination of patches or a combination of patches with sprays... but make sure you don't get too much and of course, it is always good to check in on dosing with a pharmacist...

Hang in there both of you. It will pass, it really will!

You can hold eachother up, there is strength in numbers.

    Hi Lillian,
It's okay, it passed.  It took a few hours, but it passed.  I'm over the hump again today.  It's the second weekend of my quit, and weekends are harder to distract oneself.

    Hi Quitfriend,

Try not to be so hard on yourself.  Cravings can be really intense and hard to resist.  That is why so many people slip.  You just want that pain to go away.

The important thing is that you don't give up.  Keep on trying.  One of these times your quit is going to stick.
