    Hi,

    After smoking for 12 years, i have decided to quit today. Tomorrow is my birthday and i want to be smoke free. I am planning to quit for an year and see how it continues

    Hi Varma.  Happy belated birthday - I trust your present to yourself is still going strong.

    And I don't mean to discourage, but why only aim to quit for a year?????  I think you should set the bar a little higher and challenge yourself to quit for life.  I'm sure once you do quit for a while, you will realize all of the benefits of not smoking, and never want to go back.

    Day : 1/rest of your life!

    Hi All,

    Efreeman75, I had the same question about quitting for a year versus quitting for good, but for some people it may make more sense to quit for a shorter time and then see how they like being a non-smoker. Any step forward on this is a positive one, of course!

    We often advise that people take quitting "one day at a time"; varma90809 may be taking it "one year at a time!"
