With 2019 wrapping up there is going to be those who decide to quit heading into the new year.

I quit last Jan 01 and I'm coming up on a year, and really proud and excited of that!

I'm 51 and smoked a pack a day for over 30 years. After many failed halfhearted attempts over the years, I decided to quit on Christmas Day 2018 - made a bet with my 19yo son, who started smoking, for us both to quit.

The first days and weeks are really hard. Then it starts to get easier, then you get used to no smoking, then you wonder why you smoked in the first place.

If you really want to quit educate yourself about quitting. Look up the benefits of quitting. I turned it into a positive by always trying to find the benefits.
BTW - I've not smoked over 8000 cigarettes and saved just over $5000.00

So why are you quitting? And what is your quit plan?

    Hi ATP,

Thank you for sharing this. It is so inspiring to read about successes!

For all of those considering this change, as ATP has proven, no matter how big the change will be, no matter how overwhelming it may feel, it is possible to do this. It doesn't matter what day you decide to do it, whether it is a New Years day or evening, what matters is the preparation and the mindset.

ATP has some beautiful questions that will get you there and then will help you achieve this.

I am so looking forward to all the quitters joining!

Happy New Year to everyone, cheers to a successful, joyful 2020!

    Lillian

    Teresad,

Congrats on quitting smoking! You've got the patch, the inhaler and you're on this site - it sounds like you have put a plan together, which is a big part of the battle.

Whatever it takes to help you keep your quit.

The first few days can be hard. Drink lots of water and take it easy.
