Wow I can’t believe I actually made it this long ! I’ve been smoking for 8 years before I decided to quit on Halloween 2018 ! I have had some hot /cold flashes, nausea and dizziness but overall it’s been okay . Totally worth it ! Is anyone else experiencing weird symptoms from quitting I also notice I sleep so well now . Again Congratulations everyone !

Hooray for your success, shawnaes! I can tell that you are positively thrilled!

It's nice to hear that you're experiencing some good symptoms (sleeping better) along with the not-so-good ones. We look at these less pleasant symptoms as signs that the body is healing!

I'm curious as well to hear from others who are experiencing weird symptoms after quitting. Lay it on us! What are you experiencing, and how are you coping?

Congrats to both of you on four days.  Yay!

I've not had any symptoms at all, but I'm using an NRT, the gum.  The only thing that I've found is insomnia.  I'm not sure if it's because of nicotine withdrawal, because I am not chewing a lot of gum, or just too many thoughts about quitting smoking.

Keep it up the two of you!  It does get easier as time goes on.

    Hi Christa62,

Good for your for taking this opportunity to quit now that you are out of cigarettes! We are definiately here to support you and wish you all the best.

Don't hesitate to update us on your progress or post about any questions or concerns so we can help you out.

Rosie - sleep disturbance is a normal withdrawal symptom as your body adjusts. Here are some recommended remedies:

Exercising can also help, and will make managing your withdrawal easier overall.
Eliminating your caffeine intake, especially after 6 pm, can help.
A routine to relax your body at night helps some people fall asleep.

You all must be proud of your persistence. That's the key to success.

    Best,

    Jenna Lee

Congrats on getting past the worst days of a quit. Ginger will help relieve nausea. Ginger tea, ginger ale (is what mom used to give us) Ginger also reduces cravings. Once past the nicotine withdrawal i felt somewhat lightheaded, or disoriented... that is because of being without nicotine in our system... we are normal... just a normal we are not used to .... it will pass and you will feel normal, normal... if you know what i mean.   When i tried to quit years ago on Zyban and the patch again after that, i felt the same way... Something unnatural that we are not used to. I thought it was the drugs in them . Now i think differently.  Just my opinion and experience.  What about the rest of  you.
Congrats again, and keep with it, we are all behind you.

    Hi Queenshell

I also quit  cold turkey and was surprised it was not as difficult as i had FEARED.  Nothing to Fear but Fear itself.    May I ask you if you have any or many cravings now that the nicotine is long out of your system.   I can't believe that i am the only one who had an easy time of it.  I still attribute it to Wanting to Quit and an Actual no Desire to smoke. .. I am only quit 8 days, you are more than a week longer than I.  I hope you can answer this for me. Thanks and again Congratulations.
