    Hi all
New here, just checking this out, so I’m going to throw it all out there in one blob of a note......I had a couple of small heart attacks 3 weeks ago and have just recently been told I have copd therefore I really need to quit. To be honest I’m terrified with what I’ve just gone through and I know I need to quit. In saying that, I’m also really nervous I won’t be successful.... I know it’s not the attitude to have and I’m trying super hard to change that. My quit date is Aug 12 and so far I’ve cut back a lot.... just hoping for any tips? Suggestions for dealing with the cravings? I have the patch & gum all ready....
    Thanking you all in advance!!

    Hi!
Day 30! Over 30 years smoking a pack a day. I strongly suggest the mist combined with the patch. I can only wear the patch for a short amount of time (specifically at work) due to a horrible allergic reaction to the patch. I have tried the gum but it didn't work for me. The mist is a game-changer. I have been off work for 3 days so I have not had a patch on at all for 3 days, I have used just the mist. I have been around people smoking and I've been ok, in fact I think my use of the mist has decreased. (I got Excel spearmint mints they taste similar to the spray) Seriously if you don't find the gum doing the trick try the mist. I can't believe I am at day 30 with I kind you not just 2 bouts of extreme irritability.Jeez can I even attribute that to not smoking or just everyday life. I am so proud of myself and you will be too! Pick up some mist it's amazing! (hint spray into cheek to avoid hiccups)

    Hi alyg,

I am so sorry to hear about your recent health ordeals. So many people have fear of failure like yourself. Instead of feeling down, using this failure to motivate you. I know it is easier said than done, but if you think about it, if you didn't care whether or not you failed, you would probably not put in a great effort to quit!

Congratulations on setting a quit date and for cutting down so far. As another option, you don't need to wait to use the patch and/or gum for your quit day; you can use them to cut down.

rainbrach, happy to hear the combination therapy of the patch and spray worked for you! The allergy to the patch was due to the adhesive, so if you are struggling, we may suggest trying a different brand since they all use different glues. Also, just like you mentioned about the spray (into the cheek), if you do use the gum, make sure you park it for the majority of the time it is in your mouth, rather than chewing it like regular gum. Often times people understandibly make this mistake, so they find the nrt gum ineffective. Congrats on your huge success! wow 30 days and 30 years. No wonder you are proud of yourself!!

All the best to both of you,

    Jenna Lee

Hi Alyg,  just as breiffee is saying quitting is easy.  You need to be prepared for the relapses and get back on your quit the next day as soon as you do this you will be quit forever asap.  I began my quit 6 years ago, and I am now three year fully quit. I too quit cold turkey.  Our health is important than this habit and addiction.  Key is never another puff.  Good luck!  We can do this.
