Just wanted to introduce myself.  I quit on New Years Day and the only problem I'm finding is mornings are a huge craving time and hard to get past.  I'm going cold turkey to see if I can do it.

    Hi Dee757,

Welcome to SHO.  It's nice to meet you.

I quit cold turkey, too.  It's not easy, but it is doable.  No doubt mornings are extra hard.  We were so used to starting out our days with smokes.  I would suggest keeping yourself as busy as possible.  You won't be wasting time on smoking, so maybe you can sleep in a little bit longer, then hop right into the shower.

I remember that when I first quit, I literally threw myself into work.  I always work hard, but when I quit, I worked extra hard.  I didn't give myself time to think about anything else, and I found that helped a bit.

Hang in there, Dee.  You can do this!

    Hello Dee757,
Mornings are when I have the strongest urge to smoke too.  I use the "delay" tactic - tell myself to wait 10 min. before going to buy smokes.  By the end of 10 min, the intense desire has passed.  Also, like Treepeo, I get moving.  I'm retired, so I get up, take my shower, then get right out of the apt. and over to the nearby mall for my morning coffee.  Helps to keep busy and on the go.

    Good luck with your quit!

Thanks for your reply Treepo and very nice to meet you.  Unfortunately, I'm home on disability...  Haven't been able to work for years, but when I did work I was an absolute work-a-holic, so that would have been the perfect answer....

That's an excellent idea.  I am home all day too and should shower and get right out of the house.  Whole different routine should help keep my mind busy.  Don't see why I can't go sit somewhere for coffee....  Thanks!
