    Hi Lori and welcome.

Woot Woot is right!!!  Congratulations - you're off to a great start.  And while many others will start their quits on January 1, you'll be busy celebrating your first month.

Again, welcome and I hope you like it here.

    Hi Lori,

First of all welcome to SHL.ca! Nice to have you here !
Secondly congratulations I’m glad to hear that you are smoke-free.

Lori please note that when you quit, there are usually difficult days and easier days. You should celebrate and congratulate yourself no matter what kind of day you make it through.
After each smoke-free day, it’s important to reflect on the benefits and rewards that you have gained. Calculate your gains with your personal Quit Calculator on Smokers’ Helpline Online.

    The Rewards of Quitting
Now that you’ve quit, it’s a good idea to keep track of the benefits that you’re getting from not smoking. Make a list of your rewards as you go, keep it handy, and refer to it often – especially when cravings hit. For example, “I feel less out of breath when I take the stairs” or “I’m saving money every day.”

Aside from the benefits, remember to reward yourself for your progress. Rewarding is one of the most important things you can do to help yourself stay on track especially when you're going through difficult times.

Everyone finds different benefits to quitting. What are yours? Share with other quitters on Smokers’ Helpline Online, you can also call us at 1-877-513-5333 (toll-free).

    Keep us posted.
    You got this Lori !

    Hi Lori,

Congratulations on your decision to quit smoking and saying goodbye to it for these past two days. You will enjoy the benefits of a smoke free life. The benefits and rewards are many. They include freedom, a healthier life, not carrying around that smelly tobacco scent, and enjoying activities without concern for having another cigarette, to name a few.

    Wishing you every success.

    Hi Lori,

Congratulations on making the decision to quit and for your two smoke free days.  That is terrific!

Quitting smoking is the most important thing you could ever do for yourself.  You will start to breathe a whole lot easier.  Eventually you will lose your smoker's cough.  You will have more energy, and you will smell fresh instead of like smoke.  And you will enjoy the freedom that comes from breaking away from this horrible addiction.

I'm so happy for you, Lori.  Keep up the good work.  You deserve to live a smoke free life!

    Hello everyone,

I can't imagine starting the process of quitting during such difficult times - kudos to you bsackaney80! And 'wow' is all I can say, and you're amazing for doing and going thru at same time.
Everyone of us on here were the 'newbies at 1 point...therefore, your chances of having someone relate to your story is great and once you have that relation,  you are not alone - keep posting!
I don't get on here as much, but when I do post, sometimes I can't wait to read replies. I like knowing someone else can relate and get excited about it. Sounds corny, but it helps!!!
Keep counting days...and feel that pride as you count...I am counting down days as I get closer to my 1 yr anniversary  - super pumped. This is the longest II've broken free.
You'll notice big differences but also pay attention to the little ones as well. . . I also got excited to notice the little differences.
Have fun with quitting smoking...quitting is serious business for sure, but make having fun a part of that serious business.  "If you ain't having fun in life,  you're not Serious enough" Is A Quote I Love.

Good luck with your smoke free days...and remember - all of us had that 1st something as well!!! 🤔😎

    nerak47,

Congratulations on being in your longest ever quit! Each quit can be a different experience with different circumstances but we also have to give credit to ourselves. Whatever you are doing now (that may have not been done in previous attempts) is obviously working for you so definitely keep it up! And please reward yourself for those big (and little) milestones.

Thanks for sharing your awesome, sometimes overlooked, attitudes about keeping positive, even through hard times.

Hi Nerak!!  That's amazing!  My last quit was Jan. 15, 2018 when you also quit.  I relapsed and am back again.  But its so good to see your long term success.  I'm thrilled for you.
