    I always need to remember why I quit smoking and say that I have no desire to smoke.  Over time I developed a cough and it was persistent.  I couldn’t get rid of it.  I was afraid of getting cancer of the throat and lungs. I was short of breath, my clothes smelled like an ashtray and I was spending too much money on cigarettes.  I could not do much without a smoke.  The cigarette controlled me.  I’m in control now.  I am free!

    Yes Clepage1!  Here are a few more reasons:  burnt embers putting holes in your clothes; worrying your outdoor ashtray will catch on fire; Nobody else smokes anymore; Stained teeth and extra dental bills; Inability to afford new things/treats/vacations/bills; Hurting your pets health; Guilt; Not feeling in control of your addiction; Getting sick (common virus' last longer); Being weak; Spending coffee breaks driving around because no smoking signs are everywhere outside too; Coughing during your sleep, wake up feeling tired; Not feeling like you are healthy enough to run away when/if in danger; Condo's going smoke-free so you can't smoke at home;

    Hi,
    Brieffree also posted a thread on this too. Reasons to quit are good to keep top of mind. So many, like you and Ocean notice being free from it's control. I think another reason is not feeling self-conscious anymore. When you stand outside on your own in the middle of that parking lot, it can feel like a spotlight is right on you. It's nice to have that feeling anymore.

    Keep the reasons coming!
    Lillian
