    Good Afternoon,

I had the most incredible urge to smoke this morning so made use of the delay option and never got out of the starting gate to the store. Instead, I had a NRT lozenge, the first in over a month. A little later I did something different that I had also been delaying. I walked over to the local gym, joined and had a vigorous (for me) workout for an hour. It just goes to show that I can't let my guard down for a minute.

    eagerquit,

So glad to hear the delay method and keeping active and NRT helped you. Even if you have not had NRT in a while, that is what they are there for: when you need it.

    Keep it up!

Good for you. And i am glad you posted your story. I also had a craving today and it has been a little stronger than usual. I think i am going to take a page from your book and delay any cravings. Good for you to go to the gym! Keep it up!

    Good Morning,

Thank you everyone for your support. It is interesting how a craving can creep up and try to take over. I think that getting out to the gym for regular work outs will help a lot and also burn off some calories that seem to be accumulating. I have an appointment with a trainer for tomorrow to set up a routine. When I am out of the house doing things I never give smoking any thought so staying active is important. The recent rains breaking the dry spell will get me busy in the yard again.

    Hi eagerquit,

Way to go for resisting those cravings!  And getting yourself to a gym.  Wow.  You should be so proud of yourself.  Good for you!

No matter how committed we are, we can never let our guard down.  We have to stay vigilant, and live by NOPE, Not One Puff Ever.  And you know what?  Having even one puff at this point would not be the nirvana we think it would be.  We would get dizzy, it would hurt our throat, our heart rate would increase, and all of that for what?  Another run at addiction?  Yikes, it's just not worth it.

You have done so well, eagerquit.  Keep the quit.  You deserve to live a smoke free life.

    Hey guys,
I've only gone without a smoke since yesterday evening.  But, boy oh boy, do i relate to this craving you had Eagerquit.  I started having those about once every 10 days during my last quit and gave in.  I think my walking and getting my heartbeat up really helps to get rid of that energy.  I wish I hadn't given in and I just want to encourage you to keep reaching like you are for new discoveries.,  My moto is you'll keep growing so while you're watching your back, you also have to step forward and try new things.  Kudo's to you, Eagerquit!

    Hi Ocean,

Thank you for your encouragement and it is good to hear you have had a smoke free day today. Keep up the quit. I think that the effort involved in the quit has been what has kept me smoke free. I would not want to have to do this all over again. Stay with us Ocean. You can do it!
