It probably makes a difference that I was off work from my quit day (Dec 23) until I returned to work yesterday.  Not smoking at work has been way harder than not smoking away from work.  I never realized how much I rely on smoking for breaks at work.  I've been having really physical cravings today, too.  I'll keep breathing, and drink more water.  Really, I'm just looking for commiseration and support!

    Hello Kerri,

Makes sense as being at work could present other triggers.  Getting into the pattern of deep breathing and drinking water on work breaks will make a difference.  Anything else come to mind?  People usually get very creative with distractions, you will surprise yourself.

Feel free to ask for the support you need- anything in particular you wondering about?

    Best Wishes day by day!

    Marianne

    Hi Kerri,

I hear ya.  Taking smoke breaks at work was my way to network with my friends.  When I quit, I didn't know what to do with myself.  But I learned to go and make a coffee, and say hello to whoever was in the kitchen.  Then I would come back to my desk and enjoy it, and bask in the knowledge that I no longer craved a smoke after having a coffee.  The odd time, I would go out with one of my friends in the summer while she smoked, but that was only because I was completely confident that I had no interest in joining her for a smoke.

You are coming up on two weeks, Kerri, and that is amazing!  You should feel really good about yourself and what you have accomplished.  Hang in there, because believe me, it only gets better!
