Well on Day 16 and the good news is that I had my energy back today.  I was disinfecting, cleaning, and even soaking myself in the tub to exfoliate my itchy dry skin.  I did tons of stuff nonstop for the last 6 hours, because I return to work tomorrow after having a few sick days (yes, I really did have a stomach bug), but took today to prep and clean and organize.

The problem is, I can't slow down now and I'm feeling anxious.  I just have a buzz going and now it's nervous energy.  And I came home from shopping and couldn't sit down with a smoke and drink and while away an hour procrastinating.

So, yes, I put everthing away immediatly, and put another load in the dishwasher and washing machine, etc ...  and I'm antsy...  I deserve to chill.  But I can't.  And I'm sweaty from running up and down, etc...  And I'll have to calm the X down so I can focus to read or do something to get myself quieted.  But I'm too hyper.

I can't beleive I went from no energy to full energy.  I'll take the energy again anyday, but this feels like anxiety energy.

    Hi Ocean,

There is a lot of good news in your post tonight. DAY 16!! YAY!

Unfortunately, the nervousness does happen, it is a common withdrawal symptom and like all of them it will pass but for now the getting through it...

I don't know what you've been trying over the last hour or so, but  just in case you haven't done these.. I will list off some options.

It is always a good idea, to just sit, close your eyes, consciously relax your neck, shoulders and jaw and sink into wherever you are sitting. Then, take in a nice deep breath in through your nose for a count of 5 and exhale out of your mouth to the count of 7. Try to focus your thoughts only on the breathing and the counting. Most people have to do this several times to feel more grounded and less nervous.

It helps to drink a soothing hot beverage that isn't caffeinated. It can help to have a shower or a bath, do some gentle stretches and listen to really soft soothing music. Some people journal it all out ocean, maybe posting helped too?

So, those are a couple of ideas that I do hear frequently to try to help.

I hope you are feeling better ocean,

    Lillian

    Hi Ocean,

Big congratulations to you on Day 16.  Yippee!  Way to go, Ocean!

The things we go through when we are going through withdrawal, eh?  I wish quitting were easier, but it just isn't.  But I agree with Lillian.  Maybe try some deep breathing.  Try to ground yourself.  Visualize yourself in a place that would make you happy.

Get through tonight and then you can throw yourself into your work tomorrow.  And then by the end of the day, maybe some of that nervous energy will have dissipated.

Whatever you do, hang on Ocean.  You have come so far, and you should truly be proud of yourself.  Your inches have turned into feet, have turned into yards.  You are getting it done!
