    Hello everyone and happy Saturday

I enjoy coming back and reading new journey's on here...I like remembering how I felt on day 16, 45, 90. And the longer I stayed quit, the longer I stayed excited and proud. I celebrated my 6 month and I stayed in awe that I have remained smoke free this long. I am on day 347 - 18 days away from 365 days of being smoke free. . .oooooeeeeee
Lately, I've been having wicked dreams of me smoking. Normally, I am not 1 to be bothered by dreams's, but the dreams have me feeling scared that I'll pick up smoking. I have to work to shake the feeling/dream off.
I know in the end, I'll have deserved everything - feeling super proud and accomplished AND with bragging rights; after all, I survived the fight against ME to get to my first yr. Strange enough - knowing the cravings are not physical, but my brain is the 1 that wants to smoke, makes my struggle not so tough...
Nicotine is out of my body (has been for a long while now) only my mind wants it <<<is what I wrote on sticky more and put everywhere in my home, as a reminder.
Most times, dreams are just dreams, nothing more.

    Hi nerak47,

WooHoo, way to go!  All of your hard work and determination has paid off.  347 smoke free days and counting!

Try not to worry too much about your dreams.  It is probably just a passing phase.  Maybe they are actually a good thing.  Why?  Because we are all addicts, and should never be complacent.  Things can be going really well and then bam, temptation strikes.  So we always have to be on guard.  I don't get cravings very often, but when I do, they can be surprisingly strong.  So immediately I try to remember everything I went through to get to this point, and it reaffirms to me that I want to remain a non-smoker.

Remember N.O.P.E., Not One Puff Ever, and you will be fine.  And make sure you share your one year anniversary with us.  I hope you do something really nice for yourself to celebrate, nerak47.  You have come such a long way!

    Hello Nerak47,

Congratulations on all that you have accomplished.  Day 348 - because it is now Sunday.
    Wow!  Wow!  Wow!

I am at day 321 and I am also super excited knowing I made it this far, and I feel so great.

you know, I have had moments lately when I had a slight craving or a thought about smoking, it is like a faint calling now and nothing too strong or overwhelming.  It passes and is gone......and does not come back very often.  and you are right, it is only psychological at this point.  I also have had a couple of times where I really wanted to feel the smoke go into my lungs.....and that was not too long ago.  Then I remind myself - NOPE.  Not. One. Puff. Ever.

Early on in my quit journey, I had dreams of smoking.  It was strange and also a bit scary, because it seemed real and like I did not even register (in my dream) that I had quit!

You deserve to feel proud, this is quite the accomplishment,  You more than survived, you are now thriving.  CONGRATS!!

    Hi Nerak

Remember, when you first quit, how you would celebrate not having a cigarette?  My advice is to never stop celebrating.  If you have a dream of smoking, but don't actually smoke, celebrate!!!  Our quits are precious and never to be taken for granted.  I'm also guessing that you have had some lengthy times between thinking of smoking - and that these recent dreams are just an abrupt reminder of who you used to be.  Again, you should celebrate who you are now and that you have times when you don't think about smoking.

    Hello everyone!

Congrats Nerak47 and Aurora for your incredible accomplishments and being smoke free for so long!

Thanks everyone for sharing your story about your dreams and cravings. It's impressive how everyone responded to them by developing motivating strategies:
    - Nerak47 - writing motivational sticky notes and sticking them around the house as a reminder.
    - Treepeo and Aurora offered important words to live by- NOPE - not one puff ever!
    - Efreeman75 - never stop celebrating our successes!

Really great advice in this thread and it's a pleasure to read!

Here's to another smoke free day everyone!

    Good day folks,

And congrats right back at you aurora! So, today (being Tues) would make that 323? It feels fabulous, doesn't it!!

Thanks for your replies and the sharing!
I am glad for the relief..whew! It's been a while since I've felt so nervous about something.

I am glad I shared an experience of mine...reading your experiences has made smile - I am not alone, is such a feeling. Thank you all for that!

Treepo....oh my gosh! My biggest motivation for staying quit is: never going through that again. I was so sick for 3weeks - I could barely keep my eyes open, had no appetite, cried at stupidest things. Aye! I wasn't 1 for getting sick - I was knocked off kilter...no no no
My addictive personality stays on guard you bet. It helps I'm surrounded by non-smokers.
Not one puff ever - is right
1yr ago, I was so nervous at the thought of quitting... I considered that practice lol. Yes, indeed, very proud! 15 more days
