Hey, today is the day I quit hopefully for the last time. I feel good about this one because I finally sucked it up and went to the doctors to ask for help. I quit last year for about a week cold turkey so I hope now with the zyban and the patches I am finally able to do it. Anyways just thought I’d say hello and maybe get some words of encouragement!

I know how it feels to quit and not get words of encouragement like right away! I'm sorry you've gone 4 hours without a reply. I felt discouraged at first but everyone here is actually wonderful and supportive. I hear zyban is a great way to quit. I am rooting for you! Woot! Woot! :)

    Hey Lester,

Congrats on your quit day today.

Keekz made a really good point. We are all imperfect people here trying to help each other. But the beauty is that we can all come together and offer something helpful.

Zyban and patches sound like a great plan, even more important is that you learned something from the  last time you tried to quit, and are trying to do better this time.

That’s awesome guys thanks for the support today is day number 2 and it seems like it’s a bit easier than yesterday. Still have the habit of reaching for my smokes by habit when I do something where right after I’d have a smoke (ex: get in my vehicle) but I’ve just found the will power to get through the craving and in 3 minutes it generally subsides and I feel better. The patch definitely helps a lot especially in the morning and so far I would recommend using them to anyone else trying to quit. Anyways 1 day at a time, my next goal is 1 week.

    wish me luck!

    Lester,

    That's the attitude!

I've heard some people complain about weird dreams with patches. Seems it is better to take them off at night.

I kept feeling for my phantom smokes and lighter for months after. At about 8 months I caught myself at the gas station asking for a pack of smokes out of habit....The habit part does take the most time to get over.

    Hi lester94!

Welcome, and I'm so glad you came here for support. I personally can tell you the support I have received from this site has been paramount in my success. So reach out when you need to and you can be assured someone will be there for you.

I quit using the patch, and it was the best thing I did. I tried to go cold turkey but I only lasted a week. I'm on the final stage of the patch and although I can "feel" the physical withdrawal, it is fleeting at best.

My biggest hurdle was the emotional dependency and the patch allowed me to deal with it.

Try to be gentle with yourself over the next little while and know that you CAN do this.

We are here for you all the way!

Thank you guys I appreciate the reply’s and support. Every time I feel like I need one I generally come in here and read what other people are dealing with to distract myself. Today is day 3 no cigarettes and I’m definitely starting to feel a difference in how bad my cravings are. My body must be used to the dosage of nicotine it is getting from the patch now so it’s just the habit smokes that bug me. Nothing I can’t deal with though. Not having too many side affects from the patch. Sleeping a little lighter and a dream here and there but not horrible. Anyways hope to hear back from you all on your progress and maybe a little of what your going through in the stage of quitting your in. I hope everyone is doing well with quitting

     cheers!

    Hi lester94!

First of all, congratulations on day 3!

It sounds like you're handling the cravings and I'm glad the patch seems to be helping. And coming here to read what others experience is brilliant! It was one of the things that really helped me get through the tough days.

At two and a half months smoke free, I can still have moments when I "think" I miss smoking, or I'll get a little resentful when I see others smoking. Its almost like they get to do something I can't.

I'm weaning off the patch now (final stage), and I have had some withdrawal, but very manageable. I just look at it like another step in the process.

I know I'm just starting to learn how to live as a nonsmoker and I find that so exciting! Being on this side feels amazing.

Keep doing what your doing because you're doing great!

    Hi justfortoday!

im onto day 4 now and it seems that I’m going longer periods of time without thinking about smoking. I feel pretty good. I have to say I have tried to quit a few times before but so far this one has been the easiest with the patch and zyban.

congrats on making it to 2 1/2 months that’s quite the accomplishment! Coming on here and reading the success of people who are also trying to quit is making this feel that much easier. Hopefully when I get to 2 1/2 months I can help somebody the way you help me.

all the best and I hope your doing well! cheers!
