Hello Chrissy2,
You are committed to quitting smoking as you have not given up, be very proud of yourself! People have been known to make some attempts before succeeding in remaining smoke-free. So you really are that much closer to being non-smoker. And your strong motivation for your health is going to certainly help you through your journey. Very sorry to hear about your father and others in your life who have taken ill due to their smoking. This also has had an influence on your decision to quit smoking.
Around setting your quit date, there never is a perfect time to quit. Each season can have its triggers. You sound ready to quit now for your health. Please feel free to share with us what you perceive some challenges in the Fall could be for you. We could support you to brainstorm ideas to equip you with quit methods + how to distract from the things this season may bring your way. Ultimately this will build your confidence to set a quit date. Keep in mind that others too have had reservations about setting a date so perhaps some members have their story to share with you. Also, if it is too hard to set the date, working on a plan to cut back smoking will lead to your smoke-free day.
Cheering you on!
Marianne
