A craving really knocked me through a loop this afternoon. I took an NRT lozenge and with one of the "Ds"- delay, that settled the situation. Otherwise I have been using very little NRT these past couple of days. Perhaps too little at this early stage. Being an expert procrastinator, delay comes easy to me, hah hah.

    Hi eagerquit,

It's great that you were able to make it through that craving without giving in.  I know how hard that is to do.  Way to go!  And yes, maybe use the NRTs a little more for a while.  That's what they are there for, to help you keep the quit.

Congratulations for being strong enough to fight back!  That's the spirit!!!

Oh, those pesky cravings! They can sneak in out of nowhere, and can give you a good shake. But look at you, eagertoquit: you handled it so well, making sure both your physical & your psychological needs were taken care of...so awesome.
And treepeo is right: the NRT is there to work for you, when you need it. So continue to listen to yourself, and you will know when its time to use a lozenge.
    Keep the quit, eagertoquit!
    All the best,
    Sarah

P.S. for those new to our community, the "Four D's" that eagertoquit was referring to in the above post are: Delay, Distract, Deep breathing and Drink Water. Its an easy way to remember some strategies to deal with cravings. Some people will even make up their own list of distractions - write it down or type it into your phone for quick access!

    Good Morning,

Thankfully that moment, actually those moments, passed yesterday without incident. I am feeling great today knowing that I did not cave in. The stakes are far too high so the outcome must be successful.

    Afternoon everyone,

Omg,  eagerquit,  the struggle is very real for us,  and so everyday we stay stopped is an accomplishment,  isn't it! And so for me,  41 days is a long(est) time,  and I do not want to start my count again and have to repeat a struggle,  the outcome has to stay "another smoke free day"..
Giving away something here but (shurgs shoulder)  oh well... I've been smoke free for 41 days... I've smoked for 41yrs!

    Hi eagerquit,

I love your determination!  I am so happy that you made it through that wicked craving and came out on top!

And nerak47, congratulations on being smoke free for 41 days - yippee!  You should be so proud of yourself!  Doesn't it blow your mind to realize that you actually quit?  I remember thinking, "Man, I can't believe I actually did it.  I quit smoking!"  In my wildest dreams I never thought I would be a non-smoker, but I am and it rocks!

Keep the quit!  Your body will thank you!
