I did it so far.  It is still difficult at times. I don't miss the stink, I don't miss the coughing, I have better things to spend my money on, and I love to say no, thanks, I don't smoke.  I still miss it but I hate it more.  I hate the control it had over me. I hate that that thing could make me drop everything else and go puff away for a few minutes. I hate what it did to my finances. I really did replace smoking with drinking water. I buy cases of it and carry a bottle around instead. I realize how difficult the struggle and I won't even when I am tempted. I can breathe, again!!!

That’s amazing! Keep it up! I am 2 weeks smoke free and I have a question?

Does it get easier? It feels like I spend most of my time and mental energy focusing on not smoking. Is there a time when it will be less frequent in my thinking?

    Hello Glendagin,

Great news, way to go!  I like how you remind yourself of all that you don't miss- coughing, smell, control over you....

Drinking water is such a good replacement and good for you.

Looking forward to hearing more about your journey!

    Best Wishes,

    Marianne

49 Days into my quit. Had a major craving this morning. Your post really helped me re-focus. I am so in agreement with all you said.

    Hi glendagin,

Way to go on being smoke free for 6 months!  That is terrific!

You have the right attitude.  Smoking is nothing but bad news, and it's good to remind yourself of all the reasons why you quit.  And also to focus on how much better you feel now that you have quit.  You have replaced a deadly habit with a very healthy one, drinking lots of water.  That is really smart.

You should do something to celebrate this major milestone!  You definitely deserve a treat!
