I'm on the patch and it seems to be working well for me -- don't have that many cravings so far

Hi brianor and welcome to the forum.

Day 1, how exciting.  Every journey begins with a single step.  The good part is you don't have to take the journey alone - we're all here to help.

Hang on tight, the ride can be a little bumpy sometimes.  Stay dedicated and you will succeed.  You're likely about to experience all the fun little withdrawal symptoms.  While they're not comfortable, they're not permanent.  Remember to smile and laugh.

Again, welcome, and congratulations on your decision to quit smoking.

    Hi brianor,

So glad to hear that the patch is working well for you.  It has helped a lot of people, as you will see from reading the posts on this site.

If the going gets tough, make sure you do things to distract yourself.  And drink plenty of water to help remove the toxins from your body.

I wish you well in your journey.  Quitting is the best thing you could ever do for yourself.  It's really worth the effort.

I am using the patch as well. I have experienced some withdrawl symptoms while was using it so I have found that using a combination of the patch and another NRT like gum mist or losenges whatever you feel works best for you so when the cravings might sneak up on you you another NRT myself I am using the lozenge can help you with the craving. it has helped me and don't need to use the lozenge a lot but sometimes I feel like is too much and the lozenge helps me.
