I was 4 months smoke free and I went and bought a pack this morning.  I have had a few and I'm not even enjoying it. I'm just mad at myself.  I don't understand why I am doing this to myself.  I need to throw the pack away, but right now I can't wait to get off work so I can have another one.

    Dear Margie55

Don't be so hard on you, 1 sleep all of us did sometime. Is Part of Learning process, until you figure out that you are again wasting your money.

Is your addiction who made you fail. Just go back to the quit zone and get rid of the Pack! Do not forget that one after an other one finish in relapse....Just say No!

    You can do this!

    Hi Margie55,

Brieffree is right. Try not to be hard on yourself. The best thing would be to learn what you can and continue on with your quit.  It would be good to use what you know works for you. Were you on the patch or gum or were you keeping busy with a hobby?

I hope all is well today. Let us know.

Hi Margie, as I write this I feel like a hypocrite but I don't intend too, ok?  I've been where you are and I cringe to think it took me a year to come back and try again because I was so frightened.  Two things pop into my head immediately.  One, always carry a pack of nicorette gum or spray in my purse for when these things happen.  Nicotine in itself is not cancerous, just highly addictive.  So spray away but never light up.  And two, don't leave it very long befre you start to quit again, you're just prolonging the fear.  You've made it four months until this relapse and that's amazing!  It's not even three weeks since you posted this, so the 4 month of staying quit really out numbers the recent relapse.  I'm writing this so if this happens to me, I can come back and read it to get perspective again.

    Hi Margie55,

I am sorry to respond so late but somehow I missed your post.

I agree with what the others said.  Don't be so hard on yourself.  We are all human and sometimes we slip.  The important thing is to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and try again.  And use your slip as a learning experience.

    I hope you're doing okay.
