    Good Morning brieffree,

NRT ( nicotine replacement therapy) gum is a great strategy! As you mentioned, it's flexible - so you use it when you need it. Going for a walk and being more active are also awesome things to add to your quit plan!

    Keep up the good work!

Dear Couch.  Does natural remedies and nutrition count? I still believe the Lung Cleanse which i posted and followed has made me nicotine free in less than 2 weeks. I can already take deeper breaths.  The nicotine is already out of my system i think, or will be in another day. I have no serious cravings.  I feel great!

As far as distractions, i have a pile of housework that i left intentionally, and lots of cupboards and closets to go through.  A few recipes i want to try. I try to remember to drink water as often as i can. I plan on mashing cocao with banana as the sweetener to boost my mood (dopamines)  and still keep my weight down.(keep like Little treats in the freezer)
I too need some ideas as to little rewards, without involving food.  Usually when i finished a chore, like some others here, it was time for reward, to sit with a smoke  and/or coffee.  I drink more green tea these days. I do need to do more exercise but that is hardly considered a reward!  In retrospect, i really don't mind green tea these days , don't mind the taste of my ginger concoction, most of the time i don't even miss smoking these past couple of days. Maybe i will come to like exercising... Just dance on You Tube might be a fun way. I would love  to hear other suggestions from the forum. Until then, keep the beast down.

Yes, natural remedies and nutrition count for sure! It's all grist for the mill. You've been doing quite well with these strategies (among others), so thank you for sharing, shazzan.

Good question about ideas for little rewards. I like the dance idea for having some fun, or relaxing with a green tea or your ginger concoction.

Forum folks, what are some other effective strategies you've found to reward yourself in a healthier way?

    Good Afternoon,

Working out at the gym us my favourite strategy. I spend two hours there three times a week and it is making a nice difference to my physique. I also agree that nutrition is important. I have put a lot of emphasis on that since I quit smoking, boosting my health and happiness. A broad smile and a good laugh brightens every day.

Wishing everyone another smoke free day!

I have found a nice hot bath after work, instead of the "many" cigarettes I would have smoked , and to keep things real simple!

Thank you all so much for sharing your ideas. They are inspiring. What is cool about these strategies is that they also seem to be great rewards and positive-reinforcement too.

    Keep up the great work!
