Today i have been at my wits end with everything going on. I craved a smoke and i fantizied about one. I put on a patch and went on with my day thinking this will never end. But at the end of my day there was nes news ...good news. Things change even when you think they are stuck a certain way. I am glad i decided to delay amd distract myself. Today was hard but one day at a time! I feel relieved but it may creep up on me again so i have a plan to start something new like a new hobbie or call a friend if it happens again. Thank u all for your support.
I am just weening off the patchs so its been hard

    Hi chartippybum,

It's great that you did things to delay, and that you made it through as a result.  Way to go!  I know that sometimes it is really, really tough.  You just have to grit your teeth and bear it.  I used to find that trying to distract myself helped.  Playing computer games, reading, going for a walk were some of the things I did to keep my mind off the cravings.  I think if you find a new hobby it will really help you to get through the tough times.

    Good Morning,
Give yourself a big pat on the back.  I too have been off the patches for a couple weeks.  Not a bad idea to have a package ready for times like that....whatever works.  Way to go!

    Hi chartippybum,

Thanks so much for sharing this! Try not to focus on the fact that you had a strong craving, which is so normal. Instead, you pulled through, used your strategies and nrt to not smoke! That is the most important thing of all.

It seems like whatever you are doing is really working for you so keep it up! Even in those really tough times.

susanyw hit a good point: it would be better to fall back on nrt, even after a long time after quitting, where you are only getting nicotine vs. nicotine + thousands of other chemicals from a cigarette.

treepo - you have some amazing distraction strategies here too.

    Way to go everyone,

    Jenna Lee
