Hi beth77,
I didn't even make it 2 days before I slipped so I get it. For me at that time, it wasn't stress, it was intense cravings and pain in my lungs, wanting a cigarette. It hurt like hell.
You know what, beth77? We're all human, and things get to us. All we can do is the best we can do at the time. Okay, you were feeling a lot of stress and you slipped. So what? It happens. There is no reason at all why you should beat yourself up for it. You are doing your best. Sometimes it's really hard to keep it together.
Please don't be so hard on yourself. You didn't commit a capital crime or anything. This addiction is really hard to beat, and it tempts us at every turn. It may trip us up, but as long as we get back on our feet, we will be okay.
Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and keep moving forward, beth. You were doing great, and you will continue to do great. Just carry on. We're all in this together. None of us are perfect, none of us know how to do this the right way. I don't think there is such a thing as the "right" way in any event. We just have to figure out what will work for us as individuals.
Remember, you are stronger than your addiction. And you deserve to live a smoke free life. Always keep trying, always keep fighting! We are all here to support you. Keep the quit!
