Hi everyone. Just want to say I gave myself a Christmas present today. It has been one month since I stopped smoking , after 50 years of lighting up. Not to brag, but am proud of myself. It has been a struggle at times, but with my wife's support I and we have  done it. Now have set a goal of 2months. If I can make it this long YOU can too. Merry Christmas .

    Hi Fisher Guy,

WAY TO GO!!!  Quitting is the best thing you could ever do for yourself.  I found the first month was the worst.  After that, things got noticeably better.

Remember to live by NOPE (Not One Puff Ever).  If you never take that one puff, you will be a non-smoker forever.  You can keep this up.  Believe in yourself.  You are worth it.

One month is HUGE!!!  Please brag all you want, you deserve to.

The first month is a tough one as you navigate around all the obstacles to lure you back in to the trap of just one last cigarette.  Congratulations for steering clear.  One month will soon be two, and then 100 days, ..., just always remember Treepeo's wisdom and live by NOPE.  It is also great to have the support of your wife - I know mine was invaluable in my early weeks.

Like they always say - the best presents are the ones you don't have to unwrap!

Wow,,,just starting and the one month mark seems daunting at this time.  I like the NOPE acronym...will use it in this process of quitting. Posting it in all the spots that lead me to the areas I smoke...ie...garage door, and posting it in my living room on the wall so I see it each day, and when I get bored it will remind me to do something other than smoking to relieve my boredome.

Thanks guys, for all the positive words and thoughts. It is now day 40 and the thing that staggers me is the 1000 cigarettes that I didn't smoke. Still get lots of urges, but the NOPE works for me and a stick of gum every once in a while. On to month 2. Thanks

HI everybody. I don't know what to say. It is 2months today since I quit. My wife is so happy. Sill get urges  but not, like the first month. 61 days seems a long time ago ,sometimes, but it also seems just like yesterday if you get what I mean. Now to set a new goal of 3 months, Just keep saying NOPE . I like to read Dublinguys post as it keeps me motivated.

    Hi Fisher Guy,

Two months smoke free - WooHoo!  That is such an amazing accomplishment, and you should be so proud of yourself!  That is really terrific!

Isn't it nice to wake up in the morning and not have ashtray mouth?  Do you find you are coughing a bit less?  Breathing easier?  And how about all the money you are saving?  Honestly, there are so many benefits to quitting.

Make sure you give yourself treats along the way.  Positive reinforcement helps, and you deserve the best!  Stay strong, my friend, you are rocking your quit!

    Well done FisherGuy.
I remember you telling me before that you were at 6 weeks and moving onto the Step 2 patches. Obviously things are going well for you. Im right behind you on 50 days .. (7 weeks 1 day) and just moved to the step 2 patches this last weekend. All good so far. Glad you like my journal type thread... its become part of the routine to post something everyday even if its just to talk about the vivid dreams ive been having. Ive been sleeping better than ever lately.

Keep up the effort. NOPE.. not one puff ever and we will get through this.

HI everybody:  :Well 3 months is now in the books. Just hard to believe that 92 days of not smoking.  Still get urges ,but not like the first 2 months, Now  when they come i just say no thanks and keep doing something else. Went to the doctor last week and even he was happy for me, asking how the urges are going. Now off the patches for 2 1/2 weeks and not as bad as I  thought it would be. Dublinguy will understand. Over 2200 cigarettes not smoked, Still can't imagine that. Looking forward to day 100 and month 4. Keep saying NOPE it works. Thanks guys for the support.

Great work fisherguy. Ud said u would make it to three months and here u are. U should plan a weekend getaway with your wife as a treat to celebrate. I’m nearly at three months too. One week to go. And like u… I’m gonna get there too. Coming off the patches was fine for me too… no real difference. I still use the mist from time to time but I’ve noticed the urges are no where near what they were earlier in this quit. Nrt has worked this time

    Hi Fisher Guy,

Wow, look at you go!  A huge congrats to you!

Isn't it shocking how many cigarettes you would have smoked during this time?  I quit just over 5 years ago, and I would have smoked over 47,000!  Staggering, eh?  That stat gets to me unlike any other.  It's something we just don't think about when we smoke.

You have given yourself the greatest gift by quitting, Fisher Guy.  All your hard work and determination is paying off.  You should be really proud of yourself!

Just another trigger for me to overcome  Had lots of urges with a few times I didn't think I would make it, but pulled up my socks and kept going. NOPE is working well. Just wanted to thank everyone for your support and advice. .

Just wanted to say hi to everybody. Nice to read everyone's posts. It sure helps to keep everyone motivated. It is now 5 months today that i quit. That is over 3600 cigarettes not smoked and $2000 dollars sill in my bank account.  The urges are getting less and less all the time, and when they do come they are not as intense as the start of the quit. Keep up the good work everybody and I will be reading your posts everyday. NOPE NOPE NOPE.

Way to go Fisherguy. I always love seeing you post on your monthly progress cos when you do it reminds me that the next milestone for me is just around the corner. Gives me hope and the strength to keep going.

Great to hear the urges are getting less for you now. You worked so hard to get to this point its time to start reaping the rewards. I still get the odd urge now and then but not anything like at the start of this journey and I can actually ignore them. $2000 in the bank saved by simply not buying a pack of smokes every day.... that really drives home how much we were spending on harming ourselves.

HI everybody: well 6 months is in the books. So happy to say 1/2 a year has gone  by.  It hasn't been the easiest thing I've done, but the most satisfying. The urges the last couple of weeks reminded me of month 1, but they are gone now. Must have been one last kick of the cat for my addict.  Glad to read all of us are doing well and keeping in touch with each other . Keep up the good work. On to month 7.

    Hi Fisher Guy,

Yippee!  Half a year as a non-smoker.  That is terrific!  You should be so proud of yourself and what you have accomplished!

Keep the momentum going.  It only gets better from here.  And reward yourself for all of your hard work.  You certainly deserve a treat!
