I'm Cassandra and here I am, 2 weeks smoke free and ....... hating every minute of it. My support system bites. In my home most are non smokers and don't understand how hard it is and don't think its a big deal. So... there are no words of encouragement unless i point it out that i need the words. Instead of "fantastic job, your doing great!" I'll get a cryptic look and the words..."Did you smoke today? and the look of 'sure you didn't' when my reply is no, no i didn't.  I want to quit for me, not for anybody else, but it is so damn hard when the only encouragement i get is from myself 20 times a day

Hi cassandra2310 and congratulations on being smoke free for 2 weeks!!!!!  Quitting sucks! Quitting is damn hard!  Quitting is a Huuuuuuuuge deal! and you are doing a doing a"fantastic job, your doing great!  Only your fellow quitters can really understand.  Try not to be too hard on your household.  You're right to want to quit for yourself and it sure sounds like you know nobody can do it for you.  Hang in there, and log in here often.  Celebrate your victories.  We can do this!

    Hi cassandra2310

10000000000000 Times Congratulations in 2 weeks smoke free! I like to share with you that you are not the only one who feel alone with their own quit! I know is hard because I quit, after almost 2 years I asked my Son how he felt about it? Other wise she did not talked about it. Sometimes they need to be asked, I mean you need to asked them what do you need from them!

Anyhow, you come here at a great place to find help.

2 Weeks free, 14 days free
    Great Job!

    Hi Cassandra,

Congratulations on your 2 weeks smoke free! Like  wimporswim and brieffree mentioned, it's worth celebrating even when those around us don't see how it, keep up the good work and remember that whenever you need a word of encouragement, come by the forum or call Smokers' Helpline, there will always be someone to cheer you on!

    Cheers to you!

    Hi Cassandra2310,

Let me send you a GREAT BIG CONGRATULATIONS ON TWO WEEKS SMOKE FREE!!!  That is truly terrific!

Two of my sisters gave me no encouragement, either.  But in their case, they do smoke.  So why didn't they encourage me?  Because they chose not to even try quitting, so I think a part of them didn't want me to succeed.  I know that sounds bad, but that's just the way it is.  So thank goodness for this site, because we get lots of support here.

You are doing great, Cassandra, and you should be really proud of yourself for what you have accomplished so far.  Hang in there.  It will get a bit easier every day.  And soon you will start to feel better physically, which will spur you on even more.

That is great Cassandra!  I feel the same way.  It's crazy because they have no idea how hard it is.  It's not just that you're skipping and delaying your cigarettes is it?  It's that you're conquering withdrawal every second, over-thinking or obsessing about it every darn minute until the addiction loses it's grip on you.  So congratulations for every second you've fought these other things that go along with the "not smoking" part!!!!
