This is my third time quitting. Started again last summer and was up to a pack a day. I don't remember quitting being this hars. First time I quit I was 19 and smoked for three years and only about half a pack a day, back when DuMaurier and Players were only 3 something a pack but I  think financial reasons were my main motivator because I wanted to go to university. I cut down  and then stopped buying smokes and would bum smokes and then drags and being a nuisance motivated me to quit altogether.

Quit for fives years then I smoked casually and eventually picked up habit again. Smoked regularly for three years. l also was being treated for depression and my doctor switched me to Wellbutrin which is brand name buproprion the same chemical as Zyban. I gradually  lost interest in smoking and quit without meaning to.

Now I'm using NRT and it is HARD. But with the reserves closed and smokes like $12 a pack I can't afford it.

    Hi gnomemoresmokes,

(Love the username). Reflecting back on past quits like you are can be very helpful. What worked? What did not work? Although each quit has difference circumstances, try to draw on your strategies. Also, the fact that you are able to quit for YEARS at a time is awesome! Relapses happen (unfortunately) but never quit quitting!

You mention this quit is hard, I wonder what specifically you are struggling with? Can you pinpoint a specific trigger or barrier that you can problem solve for?

Well maybe it's because I smoked more this time and I have been under a lot stress moving to new place with a roommate who smokes. I was taken of Wellbutrin l for depression last spring and my cravings returned within weeks so maybe my brain was still wired to crave cigarettes, because I heard Zyban/Wellbutrin/buproprion is not as effective as Chanpix. Everyone I know that tried Zyban/buproprion as a stop smoking aid returns to smoking. But I do not want to go on Chanpix. I have switched from 2mg nicotine gum to 4mg and that has made a difference.
