Good Morning. I was active in this site a couple of years ago when I had my last cigarette. I have not had another cigarette in all this time but I was not able to completely kick the NRT lozenges until last Tuesday. I was never very heavy with them averaging about 10 x 2 mg per day, justifying it as being better than getting all of the extraneous chemicals in a cigarette, just nicotine in a small dosage and at a fraction of the cost. The problem is that nicotine in any amount is bad for health so several weeks ago I began inventorying when I had a lozenge and immediately found there were times when I could skip one. Gradually I did fewer and fewer until I had my last one on Tuesday morning. My challenge as it was with cigarettes is to stay stopped so I have returned here.

Hi Wandam. Thanks for your encouraging words. Today is day five being totally nicotine free. At 69 years old, I need to give this poor old body a rest!

    Hi eagerquit,

It is so nice to hear from you again!  I sure am glad that you have remained a non-smoker.  Way to go, that is terrific!  And now you can focus on giving up nicotine entirely.

I think that when the going gets tough, you should use the same techniques you did when you quit smoking.  Do things to keep yourself distracted.  And drink lots of water.  You were able to quit smoking, and you will be able to give up the lozenges, too.  Believe in yourself.  You are stronger than your addiction.

    Hi Treepeo1.

I remember you well from a couple of years ago when I left cigarettes behind. Yes I am using the same techniques to quit the lozenges as I did with the smokes. Thanks for your encouragement. Wishing everyone another nicotine free day!

it has been awhile since I've been on the forum by I do remember you all when I was active here.

good for you for returning here to quit NRT.

I did NRT lozenges for the first half a year for sure, and it may have been the first year.
I know there have been other things that I have had to watch here and there - eating, drinking, cannabis, and even coffee.
Quitting is also about developing positive coping strategies - which I have greatly increased since I have quit 992 days ago with NOPE - not one puff ever.
These have been mindfulness, walking, developing healthy eating awareness and habits, good sleep habits. It has also really helped to track some progress - this site tracks days quit, cigarettes not smoked, life gained and money saved.
I use that money for life and freedom!
