Last smoke I had was just minutes before midnight on December 31, 2018.

What a journey this past year has been. Struggling not to smoke those first few months, then learning how to be a non-smoker, to feeling like a non-smoker.

Quitting smoking seemed so impossible to me for so many years, yet here I am today a non-smoker with one year under my belt. I feel so much better today. I breathe better, have more energy, I can literally smell the roses!

The last real craving I had was probably 4 or 5 months ago. I really have no desire to smoke. My quit is worth way more than a crummy smoke ever will be.

    Thanks to:
-my wife - who put up with my smoking all these years and then listened to me as I blabbered on and on during those first weeks as I kept convincing myself to keep my quit going.
-Smokers Helpline - the texts, emails and the quit plan really helped.
-the people who have posted their struggles/successes here over the years - reading their stories really motivated me,
-those who offered words of advice in response to my posts
-and those that I was hopefully able to help as well - as it kept me motivated.

365 Days, 8030 cigarettes not smoked, $5,139.20 saved, 61 days 8 hours 10 minutes of life saved

Waking up every day and being thankful for finally quitting, and all the benefits that go with that, has been my biggest reward.

Happy New Year everyone. And here's to a smoke free 2020!

    Andy.

    Hi atp.

I am so happy for you.  You made the decision to quit and followed through.  It is quite an exciting journey, with so many ups and downs.  It is so liberating when you truly realize all the benefits of being a non-smoker.  You've been so helpful to so many - you deserve to be proud.

    Hi Andy,

I am finally back online and saw this post.  A huge congratulations to you!  You should be so proud of yourself.  What a tremendous accomplishment.

You struggled and suffered, but you persevered.  And now you are truly a non-smoker.  Isn't it wonderful?  No more bad breath,  stinky clothes, skulking around outside looking for a place to light up.  And just wait until you travel.  You will be able to wait at an airport without suffering terrible cravings.  Oh, the freedom is terrific.

Good for you, Andy!  Enjoy every moment!
