I am on day 4 and craving immensely.  I am going around in circles.  I am not staying in action and I think this is causing me problems.  I don't feel motivated, but I will need to push myself if I want to get through this smoke free.  I hope it passes...

    Hi Franny,
Thank you for sharing, the first week is always the toughest when it comes to cravings.  And you made a really good point when you mentioned that you are not staying in action and that it could be causing you problems.  Often the body can form a stronger dependency on the nicotine when we re-introduce smoking.
It will definitely pass, and the longer you stay smoke-free the weaker the cravings get.
I know you are trying really hard to push through this, it gets better.
What are the reasons that motivated you at first to quit smoking?

    Hi Franny,

Yes, it's hard to stay motivated.  When you quit, your emotions can be all over the map.  It's hard to go through, but I think we all go through this, whether we understand it or not.  Why can't it be easy?  Well, it just isn't, simple as that.  Oh brother, withdrawal sucks.  I wish I could make it easier for everyone, but I can't.

The good news is that it is all worth the effort.  I mean it.  If you can get through the first month, wow, things will change for the better.  You will feel better, breathe easier, have more energy, stop reeking of smoke so you will feel more at ease in social situations.   You will have more free time, time that you used to waste smoking.  Holy cow, you just can't imagine how different your life will be until you actually quit for good.  It's incredible.

I want that for you, Franny.  I want you to be able to experience the benefits of being a non-smoker.  I never really thought I could do it, but I did, and it made a huge difference in my life.  And you can do it too.

Hang tough, Franny.  One minute at a time, one hour, one day, one whatever it takes.  NOT ONE PUFF EVER!
