I am on day 1 (about 5 hrs into it).  I am really feeling like having a cigarette.  The craving doesn't seem to pass.  I am on the patch and have lozenges, so I took one.  I know this will pass, but the comfort of the smoking routine is hard to beat.  I smoke when I feel bored, or in between chores.  I need to find new means in order to kick this nasty addiction.

Hello franny - congrats on day #1 of your quit!
The craving to smoke, especially during the first few days of quitting, is very common.
You've already identified some of your triggers - boredom & on a break - which can be helpful to build some distractions into your quit plan. As brieffress suggested: walking or drinking water....Are there any other activities/hobbies that help keep your hands & mind busy?
Taking it one day at a time, and know that we support you and are cheering you on!
    All the best,
    Sarah

    Hi Franny,

I completely understand.  Cravings can drive you crazy and be relentless.  You have to try to distract yourself.  Go for a walk, read a book, play computer games, cook one of your favorite meals.  Anything to get your mind off of it.  I know it's hard, but hang in there.  Quitting is worth all of the effort.

Franny, congratulations! Take it one step at a time and don't be hard on yourself. This is day 10 for me. I smoked for 12 years.  Its taken me two years of weaning myself off from a pack a day this last month I lost count of how many times I hit the restart button and one day hours turned in to days, week.....You can do this. Reading over other peoples posts, pick up a good book, take up a hobby, mints lots of mints lol one of my personal savoirs. Good luck
