Hey atp, you're bang on! Three weeks today. AND I took your advice to heart, and took the stairs at work. WHAT?!? Was that really me?!? I could breath ... and I couldn't stop smiling.

And to all of you who reached out when I was hanging by a thread, you were true to your promise ... it does get better.

I'm still on the patch, and taking that a day at a time. For me, and my mental health history, it's best I tackle my emotional dependence on smoking first.

Some days are hard, and those days still scare me. And redefining who I am is scary too, but in the most exciting way!

The freedom I gain each day empowers me to take on another.

    Hi justfortoday,

I am so proud of you!  You have had really bad cravings but you stayed strong, and figured out how to hold on.  And now look at you.  Three weeks smoke free.  That is amazing!  You are amazing!  And now you are seeing some of the benefits, like climbing a flight of stairs without your heart beating out of your chest.  Doesn't that feel good?

Things will just get better and better.  You will start to appreciate all the great things that come with being a non-smoker, especially the freedom from that rotten addiction.  You will decide what you want to do and when.  Your addiction will no longer be calling the shots.  That alone is worth all the aggravation of quitting.

Way to go, justfortoday!  Hang tough.  We are all rooting for you!

    Justfortoday,

You put a smile on my face reading your post. Yeah, that moment when we realize how much improvement in breathing you have in such a short time is worthy of a big smile.

    Keep up the positive vibes.

There is no stopping you now JFT!  Congratulations!
Do not rush to get rid of the patch.  It really did help me to stay with them for quite awhile.

You got this - one day at a time.
