Awesome work on your quit - almost a week already. And cold turkey too, simply amazing.
I too quit cold turkey (I guess that's the cheapest quit aid, lol), but I did also keep the spray around for those crazy moments. I used the spray a couple times. I guess you could say it worked a little too well, as I craved it as much as a cigarette. I then realized that to be truly quit and free myself, I needed to rid all nicotine from my system. And so I "white-knuckled" it as you say and didn't look back. That was almost 14 months ago.
Keep the spray around, if only for the comfort of knowing it's there. But I truly believe that cold turkey is the most effective method to a long-term quit. With a firm mindset, it is possible. Most of the long-term quitters on this forum did it cold turkey.
The important thing is that you hang on to your quit as if it is the most valuable thing in the world. Invest in your quit daily, and never let it go.
