I'm so glad I found this forum. I decided to quit smoking after 20 years on June 2024 my daughter lost her Dad, Grandmother and Grandfather 2 months apart of each other i made that decision right in the middle of it all to quit she wasn't about to lose me too. I've been so busy up till last month stress had kicked in and i had a panic attack. So the withdrawals never  effected me. Everything has hit me with a ton of bricks. I have stress and anxiety before I quit so this just added. Went to the drs first last year bloodwork, stress test all is good . After panic attack went to Dr gives me prozac for the anxiety which I have not taken.  Nothing was discussed of what effects would be on quitting.. now what I'd like to know is I'm having the symptons now at almost year is that normal . .my chest tightens up at times and burns as if body is looking for that smoke. I have no desire to start back up again.  I just wish this would go away. My anxiety and stress is enough to deal with. I know my lungs are still cleaning I'm drinking lots of water etc whst you are suppose to do. But is there anything out there that can help ease .  Congrats to all you for quiting and sticking to it.  Finding this forum helped me I've calmed down. this morning it was a bad one. So thank you 😊

    Hello newbie member,

So glad that you found our community forum! Thank you for sharing your story and congratulations on all of the hard work you have been putting into your journey. You've been through so much and have shown such strength and commitment.

Many people report experiencing panic attacks or increased anxiety after quitting smoking. It can take some time for the body to heal and adjust to being smoke free. It is really positive that you have connected with your health care provider for additional support. That's so important. They can help address your concerns and provide ways to manage your anxiety.

It's nice to hear that the forum has been a helpful tool for you as well. We have an incredibly supportive group of folks here. Hopefully, they can provide some additional tips and encouragement as you continue to navigate your journey.

    Wishing you continued success.

    Warm regards,
    Karen, Quit Coach
