    Hello everyone,
I thought I'd post a checking in welcome to see how you're all doing.  I'm in my 4th month (January 15th), and doing quite well now.  I still get the odd impulse and craving, but I'm definately on track now.  Not smoking is my new normal.  I used NRT, and have weaned off it all except the NRT gum, a couple a day.  My health journey has opened up, and I'm onto other forays of healthy living and it feels great.  My confidence was 3/10 when I started this journey, and now it's 8/10.  It will never be 10, because I've had relapses in the past after significant quit attempts.  Please log in and lets get the groove going for any newcomers and midtimers and old timers.  Any advice/tips?  Share away!  And finally, thanks for supporting me, I appreciate it!

WooHoo Ocean, you're in your 4th month now, can you believe it?  Holy cow, when I think of all of the hard work you have put in, and all the struggles you have faced, I feel so incredibly proud of you!  I know how difficult it is when you are just starting out, but you persevered even when the going was really tough, and look at you now!  Incredible.  You are really kicking butt.

Even after 15 months I am still getting cravings the odd time.  Most of them don't last long and aren't all that strong, thank goodness.  But I have to stay diligent.  When temptation strikes, I think of all of the positive ways my life has changed since I have become a non-smoker.  I really focus on my chest, because it feels so much lighter.  And I am no longer a social outcast.  I don't stink, and I don't subject my friends to my filthy smoke.  I no longer have smoke breath, so I am not afraid to speak to someone without putting a mint in my mouth first.  And I now have the freedom to do what I want, when I want, without worrying about how I am going to get my next fix.  The freedom is incredible.

Keep the quit, my friends.  I am telling you, it is so worth it!

    Hi Ocean and Treepeo,

Thanks for your very positive postings. Today, I am celebrating seven smoke free weeks and my dashboard tells me I have gained over 12 days of life. I am looking forward to my daily walk this morning and I will be spending much of the day outside cleaning up the gardens. It is a sheer pleasure to enjoy the undiluted fresh air. My NRT is now just one lozenge and one piece of gum a day. I am enjoying instead mints, Trident and Excel.

Wishing everyone an enjoyable smoke free day.

    Eagerquit

Ocean your strategy of focusing on all the things you no longer have to deal with (smelly clothes and breath; no fear of when you are going to be able to have a cigarette, etc.) is so positive!!  This is a strategy I will definitely use this thought strategy once I have established & reached my 'quit date'!!

No worries, skystream!  I am glad you found my post helpful.

And eagerquit, 7 whole weeks smoke free!  Way to go!  I am so impressed with your positive attitude and determination.  Isn't it great to know you are gaining back days of life?  As I get older, I appreciate more and more how fleeting life is, so every second counts.  I have now gained back 121 days, and for that, I am truly grateful.
