Good for you Penney.   I have been smoking for 35 years.  I am 50 years old and I too have had enough.  I quit smoking 3 days ago.  I am currently using a e-cigarette.

Hi penney, congratulations on your decision to quit, to me it doesn't matter how long you smoked, what you smoked, or how many times you have tried to quit, what does matter is what you are doing about it now, it looks like your off to a good start, but as a act of faith i think you should set a date and stick to it,you said you smoked for 60 years + I think that it's about time you did something for you because like you said, you are not invinceable, set a quit date, and stay with it, we are all here for you, we are just like you, we have all been where you are, and don't worry yourself about getting it right the first time, we all slip from time to time, the point is, don't beat yourself for falling short, but if you do slip get back up and try again, we are all rooting for you

    Hi Penney
Congratulations on your decision to quit and cutting down so much already. I know it is hard but we are all here for you.
I smoked for almost 50 years and quit 2 weeks ago using the patch. Scotch mints or cinnamon hearts along with water have helped for those times I just needed a little more help.
Please keep us posted on how you are doing and ask if you need help.
