    hello.
I am on day 2 going cold turkey
I felt like  I needed some support so I made this account.   I got bad bronchitis that made me not want a cigarette at all. so im going to turn my suffering into something useful and quit smoking.
Drinking alcohol makes my cravings worse. so I just might have to quit drinking too.
     thank you

hello dusty^ and welcome to the online community.
Congratulations on your cold turkey quit! Sounds like it was really important for you to quit for your health, and you took that big step. Hope you're feeling better soon!
You are also really aware of alcohol, and how it could trigger you to smoke. Often people making change with their smoking have situations /circumstances where they have a stronger urge to smoke. You noticed that and are making change with it too - congrats!
Please continue to reach out as needed and give the forums a read through - theres alot of really strong and supportive info on here!
All the best and have a great weekend.
    Take care
    Sarah

the thing that helped me was playing with my 10 month old daughter.
i wont have her when im at work so i hope i do okay.  i plan on not buying any smokes.   i found 2 smokes today and destroyed them with my hands and tossed them.

quitfriend only way cold turkey works for me is if im sick.  i couldnt have done it if i was not sick with bronchitis . i wish you luck. maybe buy some sun flower seeds to keep your hands busy. cold turkey is hard

    Hi Dusty,

So happy to hear that you have your daughter to keep you busy while you are at home!

You are thinking ahead and know that you need to strategize for distraction at work. What could you do differently at work during your breaks? Some people have had success going for a short walk at break or having a healthy snack or a bottle of water. What do you think might help you?

    Karen

I"m about to approach day 21 of no smoking
i used gum to help me forget about cravings. I  found a very good spearmint flavour that helped me . non nicotine gum of course.
I am able to have a couple of beers and not smoke. so I feel like i am out of the woods . but i will not let my guard down
