Hi, My original quit date was in January, I was doing okay for a few weeks then slipped up.  I just reset my new quit date for March 24th, 2018.  I have now been 1 week smoke free.  I am using  the patch and lozenges this time for stronger cravings.  Over the past few months, I have made some changes to my routine, example  Monday through Friday I go for a four mile walk in the mornings.  I have set up a support system this time so if I am having a hard time I can call on them.  Lastly I thought I'd better use this site to help me, I think it will help reading others thoughts and ideas and maybe their struggles too.  I am hoping all of these thing will help me be successful.

    Hello hilda1234

congrats to your for resetting your quit date and trying again!  I know how difficult that is to do, having been there before.

I have quit since March 5 and am also using nicotine gum and lozenges.  yesterday was the first day that I did not have any since I quit.  It wasn't planned, just didn't feel cravings strong enough to reach for them.
Your strategies for building in a new routine sound great!  Exercise and a support system are really important.  This site is has helped me in many ways, to connecting with others, and hearing about what is working for them and how far they have come, it gives me strength and hope.
I really need to build in exercise into my new routine, which I am lacking.
I am finding that I am really irritable and emotional, so I need to identify and build in more strategies on dealing with that.  I'm planning on going for a long walk today.

    Hi hilda1234,

Congratulations on making it through your first week without smoking.  Way to go!

I applaud you for giving this process so much thought, and changing your routines.  And the fact that you are doing such long walks every morning is truly awesome!  I find that movement, along with drinking lots of liquids, really helps to clean your lungs out.

I'm so glad you joined this site, hilda1234.  I am sure that you are going to be an inspiration for us all.

    Hi hilda1234,

Congratulations on spending the week smoke free. I have been smoke free myself since March 7 and I too have been using nicotine lozenges and gum. They are very useful in getting past a craving and helped me in a major way. I haven't had much craving lately so the aids are tapered off.

Keep up the great work. Participation in this forum has helped me and you will probably find that too.

    Hi Hilda,
You've really adjusted and strengthened your quit strategy since January.  This is what it's all about, I think.  Sending as many positive vibes as I can.  I quit January 15, and by God I survived so far.  But it was so touch and go at times.  It's really only now, close to three months that it's not quite so up and down.  I hope things continue to improve for me, while I keep adjusting, lol!
