Well, here I go again. I have set my quit date for April 16th. I am trying not to focus on all my failed attempts and just prepare better for this one. Sometimes I feel confident and others times quite nervous. I have signed up for walk or run to quit and have started reading through my quit plan again. Wish me luck! 😋

    Good Luck Quitfriend,

I wish you all the very best of success as you start on your quit journey. I too tried quitting several times before this one and now I have five smoke free weeks behind me. The difference is that had lost any enjoyment that I may have thought I had and set out on a determined quit. The forums here have helped me immensely for support and encouragement. I take strength in reading about others successes. I look forward to hearing more from you hear as your journey progresses.

    Hi quitfriend,

The best of luck to you as your quit date approaches.

I can guarantee that you are not alone in having other quit attempts before this one. I think the beauty in that though, is all the experience you have going into this quit. You've really prepared yourself for this!

Look forward to hearing more about your quit.
    Emily

    Hey quitfriend,
I've tried so many times to quit, some were half-hearted and some were intentional.  I really just couldn't afford it anymore, I hated being so tight with my budget.  That was what has made this one stick so far (day 93).  I hated the financial burden.  The health benefits were secondary, but as I keep going they've become so important too.  Try and shake off that fear and stick with it as you have been.  You can do it, but just stick to a little bit at a time so you don't get overwhelmed.  I'm cheering for you!

Thank you all so much for your replies. It took another trial run (lol) for me to get started but I now have 10 hours since my last cigarette. The after supper trigger got to me yesterday but not today. I ask my husband to keep his smokes in his pocket rather than on the cupboard and luckily my cravings were quite manageable. Some of my reasons for quitting are to save money or to spend it on something I will enjoy, to enjoy increased endurance for the walks I have started doing and for the freedom from addiction ruling my everyday.

I’m cheering for all of you too.

    Hi Quitfriend,

Congratulations on restarting your smoke free journey. I also found the moments following a meal challenging so I got a few bags of scotch mints at the dollar store and pop one after meals. My financial plans are also important to me. In fact, I have a bucket list for the money I am saving.

Wishing you every success on your smoke free journey!
