    I have been smoke free for 4 years and now I have a new friend that smokes and I am having cravings when I sit with them and they smoke. I am trying to breath and distract myself from smoking too. I am grateful for all the years smoke free and I don't want to relapse. So I am going to try to breath and think of all the things I can buy with the money I have saved from quitting. Thinking about the smell and the dry mouth and being out of breath and coughing and chest pain and worry that went along with smoking makes me not want to start again. Good luck everyone it does get better that's why I want to stay smoke free. Thank you for your time

    Hi chartippybum,

    Wow, I can't believe it has been four years already.  Good for you!  You put your mind to it and now you are a non-smoker.

    Instead of being tempted by your new friend who smokes, just remember how lucky you are that you realized you needed to change your life, and how hard you worked to achieve your goal.  You listed so many reasons why quitting was the best decision you could make. Keep moving forward.  Don't let someone else's bad decisions influence you.  You have come to far to blow it now.

    I am grateful every day that I was able to quit when I did.  It has now been over five years, and I still believe that quitting was one of the best decisions I have ever made.  Today was a hot and humid day.  If I were still a smoker, I would have been gasping for breath.  But my breathing was fine today, thank goodness.  And that is because I chose to quit all those years ago. 

    I am really happy that you stuck with it, chartippybum.  You should be so proud of yourself.  Embrace being a non-smoker.  It is the best way to live!

    4 years is amazing... well done to you. Ive a new friend now that smokes too and I left myself slip just this last weekend but Im not gonna let myself fall into relapse. Remember all the good that has come from being a non smoker... I could smell the stench off my clothes the next day just from sitting in the same room. We have to thank our lucky stars that we are no longer slaves to the demon in our heads.. that addiction. I sure as hell don't wanna go through the first month quitting again. Hold on.. you've got this.

    Hey there chartippy,

    Glad to hear you are well and remaining free.  Keep enjoying that! 

    You are an expert at conquering cravings.  Be strong.  Be proud. 

    Never forget the reasons you quit in the first place, and you will never go back.

    If I remember correctly, our quits were only a couple of weeks apart.  Keep leaning on us for any support you need!
