Hi everyone, I just signed up. I had my last cig on December 4th. The first week wasn't so painful, but I've really been struggling for the past week. I haven't smoked (and I won't), but I find I'm feeling more down than on my previous quit attempts. I'm using the patch, avoiding triggers and smokers, and have modified my routine. Any and all advice is welcome. :)

    Welcome to Helpline

Here you will find a lot info how to keep your quit!
As you said you quit couple of weeks ago, you are in a Heck! week, the most a bit hard week. A lot craves comes in the 2 week. Here is How you can help yourself.

When you feel down, drink a lot water and brief deeply.
    Distract yourself.
    Delay the craiving
Think Positive, remember why you want quit! etc......

After this if you want to smoke, just go have a shower. I am sure the crave will go away!

Good Luck, please post how you do, so we can support you!

    Hello Alic72,

I first want to congratulate you on going ahead with your quit journey on December 4th!

It sounds like your body is adjusting to the changes that are taking place. As you may know from your previous quit attempts, feeling down is a common withdrawal symptom, and keep in mind that each quit attempt is different. Some people find that physical activities/exercising, doing some deep breathing exercises or even talking to a friend helps them manage the change in mood. Be kind to yourself and rest when you can, which can also be beneficial. Brieffree gave some good ideas too, do what feels right to you.

I can also see that you are working hard with making a lot of changes and establishing new routines, keep it up.

Remember that withdrawal symptoms won't last forever. In some cases, they can lessen in a few days or weeks. Monitor your mood and if at any point you have any concerns talk to your health care provided about it or give a Quit Coach at Smokers' Helpline a call, 1-877-513-5333.

    Kindly,
    Valerie
