    Smoking was an insidious trap that held me psychologically captive in a kind of Stockholm syndrome, defying any attempt to escape its grip. I finally realized all I had to do was make a conscious decision that I was no longer going to be its hostage. In that moment I walked away from my captor to complete freedom.
