I’m newly signed up to site as smoking has become an evil! It’s actually a love and hate relationship.  I’m dealing with several health issues both physically and emotionally. I feel very alone and scared about my future!!! Smoking has such a hold on me. Thought I’d reach out and introduce myself as a newly signed up smoker who really wants to change!

    Hi Zara,

I know the thought of quitting can be scary, but it is so worth the effort.  You will get some great ideas about how to prepare for your quit, and how to keep your quit, on this site.  I know that you have some doubts, and that is only natural.  But you really can quit.  You might use an NRT or a combination of them to help with your cravings.  And you have to be flexible and realize that you will have to change some of your routines.  You will have to distract yourself, and drink lots of water.  And you should have a support system in place.

All of these things will help you to quit.  Believe in yourself.  You can do it.

    Hi Zara,
I feel exactly the same as you!  Love/hate relationship with smoking, dealing with physical and emotional health issues, feeling very alone and scared about the future.  I don't really have a "real" support network which makes it so much harder.  Perhaps we can help and support each other?  Have you quit yet or set a date?  I quit on Feb 1 but then fell off the wagon yesterday.  Am going to try again tomorrow.  Please reach out for support whenever you like!
Wishing you all the best and lots of strength to get through this.  I know we will both feel better once we've made the leap and have been smoke free for a few days.

I have tried so many times but determined to make it through. Finally accepted that doing it on my own always ends in failure. Therefore, I'm here. Smoking cessation coach that I'm seeing asked if I can see myself or remember not being a smoker. My answer was that you may as well ask if I can remember not being able to read. So I make a new start and joined in. You can do this and you've made your start.
